New Aust record for the biggest snapper caught on video
Submitted by Snappersthego on Tue, 2008-05-13 11:50
It could be a new Australian record for the biggest snapper caught in South Australia at Arno Bay area but caught by a victoria sadly..20kg its still being verifyed..
the guy said..."The initial weight of this fish was at 42lb but after checking the scales used to weigh it against 2 sets of salter scales & also doing a comparison with buckets of water at the local butcher shop with scales certified for trade use this fish weighed 44lb, yes 20kg. It is going to be mounted for all to see & once done will live on the wall at Hotel Arno for all to see.""
Just waiting for the link..all the best..

What a cracking fish. You
What a cracking fish. You are right Mako, it sounds much more impressive when you read about it than see it on the vid. I was expecting the old man know but still, what an impressive fish!

I wouldn't mind fishing there
They all looked like they were hooked up to decent fish.

Definately
Gives you a better perspective. It is massive. I wonder how old a snapper like that would be?

They say it would be about
They say it would be about 40-60 year old colin. I thought the same just looking at the shoots and video but I do know the guy wouldn,t make it up. It was a strange weekend over their in in that region there had been three fish in that week where all caught and weighed 37 - 44lb amazing I dont have pic of ther other two yet.

Hey guys thats not the 20kg
Hey guys
thats not the 20kg snapper in the above pic, it's actually 19kg caught near whyalla same weekend as the 20kg snapper caught at Arno Bay early in may.
it really was 20kg.
this pic is of 2 fish taken from the same school, 1 nearly 17kg & the other 20kg, you can see the why the difference in weight in this pic.
cheers

any jobs around there??
OK, packing my bags and going job hunting in South Australia.....
( not that those pics made me do it.... ;-) )lol
nice fish and well done chaps. Good to see they fight them on "lightish" gear as well. That one rod was bent almost to breaking point!!!
