Get down to Cott Groyne early in the morning on a rising tide. Go out to the end and throw out a mulie on a paternoster rig on one rod and throw out some spinners on another. I can almost guarantee you will get something decent.

Dont feel bad Jas
Dont feel bad Jas as last week the conditions for fishing have not been the best. I would be looking for the tide change to be a little later in the day and then do as suggested. Or hit a beach which has some good gutters or an inshore reef. Swanbourne, Point Walter or Brighton Beach depending on where you are coming from.
Now is prime time for Mulloway off the beaches but as long as the tide is late and generaly on a new moon works for me. You just have to brave the cold.

There is a 9 am high tide tomorrow (wednesday). Get down to a local beach groyne just on dawn and start fishing.

I have found that
I have found that using burley can make a big difference whether you are fishing of the rocks or the beach, for tailor or for herring.
I have had some success at Cott Groyne using a frozen berley block.
If you can Jas, get some chinese food containers. Mix up some burley, bread, bran, some oil, bits of fish (cheap cat food with fish in it is okay. Add some water (but make sure it is not too sloppy) and fill up a few chinese food containers and put them in the freezer.
When you get to the fishing spot, empty out one of the frozen burley blocks and throw it into the area you want to fish. The big advantages are that it is easy to throw it into the spot you want to target and your burley will release nice and slowly. Then throw in another one a half an hour later, etc.
One thing you have to know about fishing Cott Groyne Jas is that you are not allowed fish on the northern side of the groyne. But if you get out right to the end just fish there. Also be aware that there is a reef close into the Groyne - and it loves sinkers and hooks.

We use chicken pellets with tuna oil for herring, and do well on the boat and from Land.
