Need advice

Hi guys,

I'm new in Perth and i'm moving to Burns Beach.

I don't have a 4x4 and would like to know where i can do some good land based fishing for edibles. Maybe some areas that is easy to get too and where i can take the wife and kids with if i feel like it. Some areas within an hour's drive would also be appreciated.

Any tips on what to go for and bait to use ? Also want to try some squidding if possible ?

Looking forward to the replies.

Cheers

Pretty much any of the groynes & outer walls of boat harbours are pretty reliable for herring. You can often get tailor from the same places early morning or late evening. Any beach that has some sort of structure (reef, gutter, drain etc) is a good spot to try for tailor or mulloway. It's a bit late in the season but there are still a few flathead getting around in the lower reaches of the swan if you like throwing lures around, you'll get into some bream to if you like a feed of those. Stick to hardbody lures, plastics are a waste of money in the lower reaches thanks to the blowies. You can get away with plastics if you work them fast enough but I find you miss alot of fish that way, especially the bream.

iam in the same area as you and i fish of the mindarie marina some nice spots for the kids to sit and play, herring tailor small sharks are all caught of the wall, u can fish inside the marina aswell. some really good beach fishing along yanchep all access without a 4wd, try the lagoon in yanchep, aswell as the club capricorn.

try using mulies on a set of gang hooks on sun set or early morning for tailor, try burleying up to attract herring and use small hooks for them just try everything mate and good luck

I've had some luck off the northern most groyne at Quinn's beach.  Herring, dart, skippy, whiting.  There are also tailor and mullet around but I haven't caught them yet.  One bloke caught a reef shark off there aswell.  If you like fishing off the rocks then you'd better get there early because the rocks fill up pretty quick on the weekend, especially in the arvo.
