Can someone please explain to me the difference of the big fish kill pics that i ( Adam for me) put up about the charter boats not so long ago from freo  hillarys/ to the monties, if my memory serves me correctly the same guys that are commenting were disgusted, whats the difference?

Now whether big kill shots are ya thing or not. I personally believe that in this climate i reckon you should refrain from posting them. But hey do what ya want,after it is your god dam given right as long as it is within the rules.

This is not a sh%t stir its just my thoughts on it. I have big kill shots,most of us have, but you will never see any of mine on any forum because personally i think it isnt a good look, and for the record the paver shots arent that crash hot either.

Personally its been a long time since I have fished up to my limits in Metro waters - particularly where dhuies are concerned - even though with my FISHING DEATH MACHINE (which is more about it being a centre console btw meaning it is a fishing boat more than a pleasure craft) I am more than capable of pillaging just as much as anyone else - if not more.

And lets face it deep water bottom bouncing is 10% skill 90% using your GPS/sounder so its not a brag about my abilities.

Posting paver shots is ego stroking thats all - thats the main reason I dont like them. But thats not what my original post was about...it was about bag limits being too generous and wanting to make sure that I got that view across.

Yes I can be undiplomatic at times - but hey thats me.

And I feel a bit slighted that Shag would bring up something I emailed him privately - basically a shot of an esky with fish in it because I was thinking of selling the boat (with esky) and he had expressed an interest in it - BUT I was not concerned about the shot like I said - just dont know how to post pics up on this site....

Those pics were NOT public domain like those others though (I just should have acknowledged the source is all when I used fw photos)- they were sent in a private email. There is a VAST difference.

And yes Shag I do tend to trust people with these things and have some confidence in people...obviously misplaced in this instance though hey.

But anyway I'm not the sort of guy to back down from a fight but I've wasted too much time on this now...besides a battle of wits against unarmed men is not that entertaining.

I will keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone here has anything intelligent to say about anything else.

I actually said in my submission to Minister Ford that banning GPS would be better than banning electric reels if he's dinkum about saving fish stocks. Don't know how it would be policed though. All these you beaut electronic gizmos with phones and ipods and GPS etc could be easily stashed anywhere on a boat!

Nothing wrong with "paver shots" but trying to look at it from Mr Chester's point of view, these types of photos certainly highlight the fact that the current bag limits are too generous. I'm assuming it was three people (based on 6 dhufish) so they STILL could have kept another 5 fish between them...multiply that by the number of people heading out every weekend when the weather allows (even just the ones that know what they're doing!) and you're looking at an impact that rivals what the pros have been doing

Far be it from me to defend Jamie, he has passion and drive and feels what he is doing is right. Sorta like Wal but without all the smilies. Jamie and I have been fighting for years but we still respect each other................sometimes.

He can come across as having his head stuffed up his butt some times, many would argue an aestetic improvement, but you have to remember that he is one of the few guys that can be bothered trying to do something other than just talk about it.

Granted he was a naughty boy in this instance and has copped it for his digression. He may learn something himself for once

My point is I would rather have to fight keyboards at 10 paces with him and try to make an impression than not have the ability to influence him at all and inturn the people that he influences.

Learnt the hard way trying to "tell' everyone how to handle murray cod over east before they released em after the glory shots, I was disturbed at the handling practices of those who claimed they were fishing C&R for em.

My attitude towards those who werent in the know had a very negative effect and back fired to a point where I've been banned off nearly every eastern forum for my "CHINNUTS' attitude, I just think the guy has all the right gear and no idea really.

It's hard to be so passionate yet show understanding that a majority dont think like you do, one needs to learn compassion, trust and have sense of the real world before judging others by something as simple as one photo.

It's a hard line, do you follow, support, or just keep doing your own thing?

Think you hit on something there Allan, My take on the issue is that Jamie was trying make a point using the photo not judging people because of it.

I think a lot of people are getting sick of the keyboard commando's jumping on the smallest things and making them big issues. Like blokes littering urine filled milk cartons in the midwest for example

It's all about how you ask the question not so much the question and he was as tactfully as a nail gun.

Difference is that Wally is constructive these days, rather than destructive.  (Realises danger in that statement :))  He's only been banned here 3 dozen times, but comes back and realises that all we ask is that its kept civil and without personal abuse.

 The same message can be easily delivered without the 'niggle' and is 10 times more likely to have a positive result on those reading.  (This whole JC debarcle has been a perfect example of shit message delivery and why its so ineffective, or, so effective in dividing a fishing population)

The use of the internet to communicate such issues is the problem, and it is not going to get better, some users have to learn to communicate more effectively with there fingers.

Speaking to Wally and Jamie in person you'd struggle to think they could harass insects.

Tony - you've made some pretty valid and fair points there.

Absolutely nothing wrong with ANYONE being apssionate and having the willingness to do something about it - I'll always respect that in anyone, and do.

There's lessons to be learnt here on both 'sides' and hopefully that will occur.

It just may take some time and some soul searching.
