Live baiting

G'day guys

Just flicking around on the net and came across this beauty. Would save a lot of messing around with rigging needles and waxed thread. Super quick as well to get the livey back in the water.

When you're slow

Wed, 2008-07-09 19:49

till -  When you're slow trolling. Very effective on billies. Boat idling in gear, 3-4kg+ tuna live hanging of a Tiagra, loaded with 24kg, in freespool, hand on the spool, feeling the rodtip start to twitch nervously, remove rod from holder, feed a little more line out then send the drag to strike and HANG ON. Amazing experience, most effective way to chase em.

I think i need a bill trip soon. MMMMMmmmm

Cheers Mike

Wed, 2008-07-09 22:02

I'm still not sure puncturing their eye sockets going to keep them alive any longer than the usual trolled rig of through both jaws?

In front of....

Thu, 2008-07-10 11:21

G'day guys

You rig them juust in front of their eye sockets. Not in the socket as stated in the clip. Usually you use a needle and piece of waxed thread. very fiddly and time consuming. But just in front of the eyes there is a nice safe spot to bridle the fish minimising injury to the fish. Well until a big bill comes in an smashes itLaughing
