heavy
24kg definately with a heavy trace, not wire though. I would go live rock crabs of any size with a 7/0 + hook through the back legs, free floated down with as little weight as possible into deep foamy water. If I was going for the big buggers, I would use handline over rod/reel, which takes some of the sport out of it, but increases the chances of landing them.
All I ask is that if you do get a big one at a certain location, pack up and be happy with what you've got and don't keep fishing for them. (Or start fishing for something else) They are a slow growing fish with dwindling populations and one trophy fish will provide more than enough for a feed.
Cheers,
Adam
