Help! The Mrs wants a pinky!
Submitted by beeroclock on Thu, 2014-04-10 13:57
Gday we taking the boat to rotto for a week from this sunday. Gonna be trolling west end everymorniing then bottom bashing each day. The mrs has got every type of demersal so far but realised the other day she has never caught a pinkie yet. Was thinking of heading south / south west of west end to get her one. Any suggestions gratefully accepted like depths to be looking for them this time of year. Or how about the SE and NE corners of rotto cheers

I fish a bit further north
I fish a bit further north beeroclock but have been getting them by dropping anchor and berlying up a bit. The earlier in the mnorning the better. I've been fishing the 20-30m mark for them.
Love the West!

Hit the wrecks, Derwent
Hit the wrecks, Derwent holds plenty but are mostly between 40-60cm but pretty much guaranteed. Otherwise there are millions in the 150-300's but you will need to find structure/drops as not many people will be willing to give those Coords away. Another option is to fish usual dhuie ground and hope for one, less likely but we still normally get a couple a day fishing 40-80m. Or last option is the anchor and burly approach, find some good structure in 10-30m and wait for one.
