GT KNOT

Well Honsu showed me the GT knot the other day in the shop and hell if i can remember how to do it! I know alot of members use this knot for there bimini to leader connections, so i was just hoping someone could take the time to film themselves tying the knot and upload it to youtube or something. I cant find any videos on the net at all on how to do it, so maybe somebody knows where i can find it?? If there is one out there then it must be pretty hard to find because the same question is asked on alot of other forums, "How do i tie the GT knot."

Ive tried following Kasey L's image that he posted a couple years but found it difficult to follow.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEEE

Do a figure 8 knot in the mono but continue around 2 more times. Loop the braid over the tag, pass through following line as it exits the knot. Drop spool of mono over the left leg, then the right and repeat 12 times total. Pull tight keeping loops at end :p.

I'd consider doing a video, but I'm sure people dont want to see/hear me doing it :p

Yes sounds easy, i remember passing the bimini loop through the figure 8, but then lost after that haha! Do a video, you would get hundreds of thousands of hits!

So hard to find a decent GT knot video, so I guess it was a bit overdue.

Nah not the same.

You'll come across 3 main knots to join heavy braid onto leader; 'GT knot' , PR knot, FG knot.

GT knot involves a bimini twist. PR knot requires a bobbin. FG knot is different again.

That dude makes tying the fg knot look so simple. Have seen that vid heaps but never attempted the fg. Always tied the gt knot. Might have to give it a go in my living room.

I use all 3. FG is the best

Mon, 2011-04-11 19:04

I use all 3. FG is the best for casting, PR strongest for jigging and GT easiest and quickest.

GT is the go to if I quickly need to do a knot on the run.

meet up for a beer is better.

meet up for a beer is better. Try the FG, more clips on the net. I find it easier & casts much better. Plus, you won't get line roller jam.

Cheers for the video Hlokk and thanks for asking for the video Beau.  I will be giving this a go shortly.  Recently busted my braid join on the boat and totally forgot how to tie it back to the mono.
