Mate I do know GI is good for crays as for LB you should just check previous members reports in the fishing reports are you north or south of the river that might also give others an idea of where you are located and which way to point you welcome to the site
Welcome to the site Buz, GI is a great landbase spot as mentioned and still produces a lot of good fish on the Westside. I've fished there before for some good tailor, i cant remember the name but we went through the gate and fished the first sandy beach/bay. My mate that works on the Island gets big flathead & KG's on lures & baits, just North of that beach spot. Plenty more good spots again as you head North.....all the best!
soupster51 on this forum also works over there. Mongrel is often bragging about the squid etc he gets in those nice restricted areas. If you can sus him out he may be of some help.
was it soups that said somewhere that he was going to 'take my boat' out to the Sydney for a service? Or am I getting mixed with someone else? Saw something on the news tonight about it anyway.
Cheers for all the info lads, scoped out the island the other day, and i can see what you's mean of awesome looking beaches and very tailor looking reef systems! Was speaking to the security guards and they also reckon on the eastern side of the island they sometimes get legal sized pinkies off the ammo wharf and the small boat harbour rockwall. Well looks like i've got a bit of exploring to do there in the next couple of months. The only down side is they won't allow you to go fishing on any of the western beachs alone, you have to take someone with ya. Kinda ruins the peace i get from going somewhere where i have the whole place to myself. Anyhoo will keep the forum updated of how the fishing over there goes for me.

Welcome buzz
Can't help you with Garden Island as I have never fished from there. I have also heard stories of good tailor fishing on the island.

My pb tailor of 78cm came
My pb tailor of 78cm came from the back of GI. Dont know what it weighed as I let it go.
But it did take a popper that I was working over the reefs when chasing salmon.
