Hi there
Pommy here in peace..I am a total novice at fishing, i am living in Bunbury not been here too long and really wanting to learn how and where to fish. No boat unfortunately yet. Have fished a few areas landbased, catching little whitings etc...Born in Manchester city, i have very little experience with fishing, really dont even know how to hook up and just putting it out there to see if anyone is heading out this sunday that i could possibly tag along with and learn, get some tips from?
Cheers

Gday mate
The guys at the tackle shops can be helpful and get you started (How to fish beaches, rocks, tackle and equipment, times, ect )If you hang around here long enough you will get to know some crew. Im a boater so cant really help atm.

I'm in Perth so can't really help with where to fish in bunbury but as far as advice goes, I have learnt more here on this forum in the last 12 months than five years of actual fishing experience! I recommend reading as much here as possible and also the LOCAL magazines! Good luck!

Fishing the Wild West.....
Being relatively new to fishing this book by two of the longest serving and best fishing writers in WA will be invaluable to your needs. Has species guide and locations plus other info. Get it from the local library or purchase your own copy- it will be wellworth the money spent and put you on the path to success.

Definitely go in and see Dave at Getaway, he's always been on the money.
Bunbury is a hard place for land based fishing, the only places I've had any decent luck are either North or South a 20 minute drive (Buffalo or Forrest Beach),

Howsie i live in Bunno as
Howsie i live in Bunno as well, get yourself a medium size beach rod and try fishing the basalt rocks down in front of the lighthouse. You will pick up herring, whiting, bream and in season salmon early in the mornings.Watch the tide times fish dawn and dusk and you will do ok.Everyone seems to think that the city beaches dont produce but i have found they are well worth the effort if you fish at the right times. If you have a 4x4 then the north and south beaches are good but for easy access back beach is the go.Also try in between Hungry Hollow and the surfclub, section of beach called the clam it has 3 or 4 drains that empty out there and has been a tailor hotspot for years also caught my first mulloway there, the first spur and the breakwall at the end of town are also good lurks close to town for a night fish.Another tip to get out on a boat would be to wander down to the power boat club over the weekend and ask if any of the guys down there need a deckie.Would give you a run on my boat but my list of deckies and promised trips is very long.pm me for any more info have lived and fished area for a looong time.

Power boat club next door to caravan park in town.Wouldnt worry to much about boating this weekend looks a bit blowie,u would be better of fishing one of the groins during evening or early morning bit more protected try the groin opposite casurina boat ramp at the end of town but go down a bit earlier so you can check the place out first could be a bit of weed around.
