well to go up to 500m  as marble said would be perfect but you would be looking at $7k

I have a 112 lowrance with B/B and a 1kw works great in 300m

i think whatever unit you get you will need a 2kw tranny. thats when the $ come in. there are some on here that fish those sort of depths so maybe one of them can give you the best advice. a furuno 585 might be able to do the job with a 2kw as a 6oo watt will pick up bottom in 200mtrs

I've recently bought one of these

is this what you mean by "deep sounder" ?

I don't know a lot about the technology (yet)

but people who have seen it say the digital screen is very clear Laughing

good write up on it,
nothing comes even close to it, unless you going to spend over $10k on a full blown commercial one.

BUT have a big pocket for the transducers, they get mighty expensive over 1kw! if you targeting 300~500m, then you going to need a 2kw or 3kw 28~50mhz tranny and that can set you back over $2k on it's own!
i'm running a 2kw 200mhz and a 1kw 50mhz, would have loved a 3kw 28mhz, but thats going to have to wait till the banks full again!

Lowrance HDS 8

Brodie, I have the Lowrance HDS 8 with the standard transducer and have had no problem reading bottom up to 350m. Looking to try it over this but have not had the opportunity to do so.
