customer service skills

You would think with struggling economy and the marine industry in a shambles marine dealerships  would be doing the upmost to do their best i think Perth dealers should wake up. Sure i didn,t want to buy a boat package however was looking at spending a few k  I too are in the marine industry and i tell you what guys we are here not to serve the customer but delight them.Having knowledge is one thing but personality and customer skills is another is it realy that hard to have a smile on your face. Four times i have been too the same dealership  with three strike outs never again.

Wouldn't have taken me four

Wouldn't have taken me four trips to work that out. If they don't treat you right take your business elsewhere, your few k might have turned into 30k down the track when you want to upgrade and they will be the ones missing out.

Reward the ones that treat you right and give you good service and advice.

Simple stuff like having a smile and saying thank you makes a big difference. Its interesting that it happens in the metro area where there is a lot of competition - its usually a small town thing!

Yeh , i was pretty dissappointed with the attitude with a few of them out there recently when i traded up , but to be fair all industries in Perth suffer from it . I think thats why i'm so busy with work always make people feel comfortable and service them as much as you can and you'll never be short of work .

Has to be a Perth thing, I

Has to be a Perth thing, I shop @ only two places here in the South West were the industry is limited to a degree (one in the home town & one in Bunbury) never had an issue with either so no reason to go elsewhere (both bloody good)

In Perth I have had some issues but then you also have more choices, followed recomendations of other forum members & had no troubles

Treat every customer with respect

Sun, 2011-07-17 14:59

Most people are spending their hard earned savings on their boat. For some that may be a 100k
,for others it may be only 1k. Either way they most probably worked hard for that money and have chosen to spend it with you.
Make them feel just as important as the hard earned savings they may spend at your store.
Ps this ofcourse is just my own opinion, use it/don't use it.

Perhaps without mentioning

Perhaps without mentioning the specific dealer, what exactly were your problems with them?

customer service

Sun, 2011-07-17 22:34

I am sure we all agree nothing worse than walking in to a shop and being harrased a big smile and hello is nice and if the salesman is really good will  give you a open question so as a customer you determine if you need help straight up or just figure out what you need before you need assistance .The salesman should be asking you again with in 5- 10 mins again and if not another salesman should have at least spotted you with in the time frame and approached in the same wayi received nothing.

This is customer service if all the sales men are busy sure some one could simply say we won.t be too long from a distance it,s not that hard. My issue is all the above got nothing three times except a see ya finally got served on the fourth time too little to late . My k just went to the Eastcoast Call me old school or a grumpy bugger but when you go to purchase a product or product,s it is a far brigter purchase when it is sold to you on a platter and the salesman has gone to all ends possible not only to sell the item but make sure you purchased the correct product for your needsand not told you a load of s--t to make a sale.

We are here not to serve a customer but delight them if you achieve this then they will be back cause you created a mate and they might well come back and by that fourstroke off you and navigation aids.
