Cleaverville options

 Hi guys.

Any suggestions on cleaverville this time of year??? After my first Barra and the usual suspects Jacks, Jews, Salmon and Muddies.

Any moon or tide better than others or any areas I can try without giving away your secret holes or banks.

Thanks people any info will be appreciated....

Better lookin at it than lookin for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Justjoe,

Make sure you take on Woody's advice. The mozzies and midgies are ruthless and you won't last long if you don't cover up and wear long sleeved clothing and bushmans.

As for the fishing it can be hit and miss. Fishing the change of tide is critical at Clearverville. Walk to the mouth of the creek and there is a 10-12m deep hole which is renouned for big mulloway. I have caught 2 from here and been busted off heaps of times. All the action occured at the change of the tide at night time and during the day (Didn't seem to matter). I have found when the mulloway are hungry they don't seem to be very fussy and what they will eat. One I caught on stinky old servo mullet on a 10/0 hook and the other I used a live mullet.

Good luck and make sure you cover up.

I've had some of my best sessions ever fishing for Jacks in that creek, just on the the corner  not far from the mouth , But also my worst experience on the

Midgies and Mozzies as well , so please heed the advice , I had to make a trip into the hospital in K town I was that badly smashed , looked like the toxic avenger LOL

Having access to a tinny like you have

will be great for Jacks/salmon and muddies. I wont mention what to do with midgies again.

This time off the year muddies should be OK, not many nomads hitting them up daily. Just cruise up river, either head left up stream from the launch area, or head across to the western fork. As Goatch mentioned right on the corner appears a good spot, even though evertime (3x) I have been there someone had that spot already. For muddies head further upstream and hug the banks.

I am sure barra are about but it doesnt seem as productive as the rivers closer to Kcity, or the ones around Cossack and Sampson.

Also launching there is one time when I had the sh*t scared out off me by a huge splash about 2m behing me. Thought it was a stray lost croc, but turned out to be a shark that probably was as scared as me!!!!

Edit: Are you any good with a throw net -- live mullet slays!
