Cats

it has bothered me for a wile now and it finally got to me yesterday wile i was out fishing. CATS.
the amount of em at hillaries is mindblowing. this girl was feeding em mulies and there would of been no less than 15 cats at a time. it really bugs me coz every time you pull up a fish, the cats try at attack it. have you guys experienced this before? the council should do something about it. ;) if ya get my drift

What do you mean?
Like cats are just chilling around the rock walls at Hillary's? Jeez, thats just something different. Are they your normal domestic cats?

The problem
Like most (all?) of society's problems, it starts in the home. We have two cats, they are both sterilised, noth nocturnalised and both well fed. We've even trained them not to chase (and catch) birds - takes a bit of work, but can be done.
Like many things, people just need to take responsibility.

Thats it.
Myself own a cat and he's not allowed out at night at all, even though he doesn't go out side much unless he needs to his thing.
As you said Dreamweaver everybody needs to take things into hand.
But I think it should be compulsary to register all pets to the council.
Cheers lads,

It varies
Unfortunately, that's decided by each Local Council. But I totally agree. It should also be compulsory to sterilise your cats unless you have a breading licence.

yeah...my wife comes with me
yeah...my wife comes with me to the hilary walls, just to feed the cats and try to catch one.
She's a sucker for hard luck cases (that would explain why she's with me). Our current cat is a stray that we took in and had sterilized.
It is a real problem for sure!

I can't remember the guy's
I can't remember the guy's name, but he ran a fenced-off wildlife refuge somewhere in Aus. He picked up a tourism/eco-tourism award, and for his acceptance speech, he just whipped out a hat from his tuxedo back pocket, put on a cat fur hat, and said "Hat your cat, thanks", and then walked off the stage. What a legend!

Years
back when I was about 6 yo, there used to be a shit load of them at the North Mole. We took 1 home and had it for years before it died on the front porch! I though they were there to keep the rat population down?

cats
they have been there for ages. if your fish drops off the hook and goes down a crack, dont bother to chase it. should use it for cray bait.

It can be pretty freaky
fishing at Hillarys at night. You turn around to grab some more bait and your head lamp shines into these two green eyes staring at you.
They must breed out there, because there are quite a few kittens around at the moment.
The one thing you don't get at Hillarys is rats.

Our cat goes on a lead like a dog
Yep , we decided that if we were going to have a cat it wasnt going to kill all the birds, frogs lizards etc we have attracted by planting natives, so its been trained
( with difficulty at first) to go for walks round the property only on a leash like a dog. Trouble is after a good pee or cr-p he runs up the nearest tree ( not like a dog, lol ) so we have one of those extending leashes containing string on a spring in case he suddenly takes off skywards!
7.5 kilos of catastrophicus domesticus!!
I`d rather be fishin`!!!
