Nah i never have much luck with bream.
Whats your budget and what are you looking for in a combo, is it going to be a dedicated bream outfit? or an all rounder light outfit.

for cheap and quality rod go

for cheap and quality rod go a berkley drop shot or shimano raider - each ~$100

get a quality reel up to the same price spooled with light braid, if you havent already used similar line.

ive had luck on soft plastics around there from the jetty near the bridge or limestone bend - just twitch,  twitch, pause, pause, pause, twitch twitch etc.

also go the northern side of the bridge on the freeway side for flatties and bream.

snapbacks

Fri, 2010-06-04 22:33

use snapbacks.  blowies will go for them, but will not be able to bite chunks off until 5-10 decent blowie bites even more.  try a 2inch grub of some sort with a fluttery/wiggly tail.

snapbacks have scent and also are super stretchy/bite resistant. you can try and bite it yourself to prove the fact!

gumby is right snapbacks

gumby is right snapbacks work pretty well. ive used them in the past and ive found that they last a pretty long time and work pretty well. not had much luck with the bream but you might just get hold of a few flatties by 'accident' :)

I got a daiwa procaster, and

I got a daiwa procaster, and u can get them from tackleworld for $100, awesome rods. Dropshots are better for working softies, and raiders are also decent rods. for a reel, try getting a 1000-2000 size, just try and get something lite and that feels smooth
