Shouldn't be far off, February has generally been a good month for them, but just for a few weeks till they bugger off again till about May.

Any success dropping pots at the jetty?  Never done it before.

I'd imagine pretty lengthy ropes required.

I used to crab in the late afternoon. Go out in front of Port Geo Marina, turn right when you get out the mouth, once you're clear of boat traffic going in and out, start dropping your nets. Late afternoon, like 4:30, the crabs are coming back out of the sand. If they're about, you'll get your quota pretty quick.

Did really well scooping along the beach foreshore at night a few times in December.

But so far January has been quite. Saw 4 underszied ones last night scooping along the foreshore.
