Update
Update: Four fishermen have been pulled from the water off Steep Point and one is still missing after being washed off rocks.
It is believed eight people were washed into the water near Shark Bay by a big wave, but three managed to scramble to safety.

bad news
hope they can find the missing guy alive, when I was there at easter waves had been washing off the tops of the cliffs then its pretty scary thought when you think of waves that size

Update
A fifth person who was missing during the initial stages of the rescue has been sighted near cliffs. Their condition is also not yet known and police said it was unclear whether they were floating or swimming.

Rescue
The rescue boys from Denham on Tamala Rose pulled 3 out and the fisheries boat pulled the forth one out some 1 km away.
The police / rescue chopper was just in Carnarvon refuelling and its headed back down to continue the search along with 2 pro boats that were in the area.
The fifth bloke has been spotted but rescuers are unable to reach him

I have no concept of waves,
I have no concept of waves, how big do the waves get at steep point, its because of this lack of knowledge that I have never fished this place, even though it has been on my to do list since reading the bobby russo stories when I was younger

Thats why i always take my Eprib with me when rock fishing. Might still take a while for anyone to get to you, but at least someone somewhere knows straight away something has happened. Plus always tie myself off.
Hope they get the last guy and he is all good. Lucky guys the others.

rescue
we are at denham A.T.M
seen the choppa come into the airport and the ambo waiting at the denham jetty, couple of local charter boats went out to help.
the town has come alive with evryone wanting to help, but the winds are high atm and pretty rough out there so leave it to those with the right equipment.
latest story was they have all been found and only one that was still unabl to get out.
thoughts are with them and hope it all becomes good news.
it started as a boat hitting the rocks to start off with, but it turns out the cliff has collapsed.
we almost headed out there ourselfs yesterday, but made the choice the winds were to high.
cheers guys

Boat, cliffs, false entrance???
Anyone know the facts here? When I said earlier waves had been breaking over the rocks at the point, if you were camped at the oven your tent would have been washed in by the looks of it. Hard to believe but you could see where the water had washed up to

Crews
Got a call for extra vollies last night so 4 of our members headed off to be there at 0530 as boat crews.
Condition are 1.5 metre swell and rising with 1.5 metre seas, 2 boats on the water , 4 aircraft and 20+ SeS members along the shore, so fingers crossed he's ok.
They flew the other four down for teatment for mild hypothermia , cuts and bruises last night.

Just found out one of the gents involved is a close friend of mine. He has a young family, and is a highly experienced fisherman, and waterman. He is now safe at home with his family recovering. My thoughts are with the one that didn't come home, as well as his family.
