Any weed reports from the weekend perth to Kalbarri?

This weekend I look to have a couple of days up my sleeve for a landbased fish which will see me head north, anyone got a report as I am not sure where to go yet but obviously want to try and dodge the weed and fish some gutters.

Went out on the boat yesterday and the water inside the 3 mile was disgusting all silty and heaps of weeed, I would imagine this would be the same up to about lancelin, so I will probably have to go up towards gero

From what I hear

Mon, 2013-10-14 13:51

From what I hear over the weekend.. Lano weeded and fish less. Moore river beach weeded, the river fished well for bream. Hill river was un fishable due to weed, jurien small mully caught at the jetty 10kg ish but heaps of blowies. Jurien marina closed with a massive fish kill.. Sandy cape fairly weedy but some clear spots but mainly fish less.. Oh forgot wedge apparently fairly clear but very washed out and not much action..

We have a comp this coming weekend and with those reports I'll be heading gero way also..

Hope that helps.. Good luck buddy might see you around up there..

Yeah from what I saw in the boat the land based scene will be tough for a while, guess I will see what the weather looks like too.

otherwise it might be a good weekend for a few jobs around the house

The marina was full of floating weed from storms and as it couldn't escape started rotting and killing fish.. Lack of oxygen I guess.. Sorry I don't know a whole lot about it other then it was closed for removal of weed and dead fish.. Apparently it happens most years...although this is the first time I've heard of it.. Maybe a floor in marina design I think..

like recently, no fish kills though, which is excellent, you would think the little fishys would swim out of there

Silly sod,ha!

Mon, 2013-10-14 17:06

Back from wilbinga lunchtime today.

yesterday afternoon We were the silly sods towing a trailer , that , er , lost forward propulsion on the beach, its very , very soft.

No probs pull trailer with quad , er , um , quad seems have to lost motion in a forward direction too!

ok , gq bogged ( not badly)   trailer sitting on beach alone , quad bogged, mmmmm, no dads not yelling kids

I just have a loud voice, all good , we got out after about half hour and headed to gutter.

All gutters up that way are good for weed , quite fishable, but the water all around is a horride pea and ham soup colour, so tailor

are few and far between. Major solunar time 7pm -9pm last night , and it was spot on.

Not a touch till 7 and then 1 tailor , followed by 4 small soaps all in a row , it was a fish a cast , and they would have been all legal

but preff tailor, so back they go.

Weed

Mon, 2013-10-14 19:01

Fished the shacks at Wilbinga from Sat morn to lunch time Sunday, between maybe 20 fishos, 3 tailor and hard work and 1 whiting - a little weed, the other reef was full of it.

Water looks awful - need these storms to settle down quickly

Went out yesterday for a look. Weed everywhere. Pinnaroo point was a joke, couldn't see sand in either direction and heavy weed in the water, I have never seen anything like it.

beaches clearing and some clear spots.

Green Head, drove (4x4) from Pt Louise to the jetty/boat ramp, at Greenhead  last Saturday and the bay there is clearing weed but some clear spots on beach and in water, can see gutters further out with weed.  Boat ramp is clean and still only 1 ramp.

Haven't been north of Leeman on the beaches as yet so can't report.

Weed

Sat, 2013-10-19 10:00

Just thought I would add a report to this.

i got up to wilbinga just after lunch on Friday I decided to go there for 1 night as the winds weren't looking favourable for Saturday night on the beach so I cut it to one night.

i threw a few poppers at a few reefs for nil just after lunch so no surprise and then moved on up to the open beach to set up for the night

unfortunately the weed was just too much although the wind speed was great it was still pushing large clumps in and after about 15 seconds a serious seaweed monster was building on my line.  I decided to cut my losses and bail before sunset and had a look at a few other beaches but it was all the same.  I probably should have gone to a favourite spot of mine south of gero that can handle the weed.

anyway I can do some maintenance on the boat today and I might go for a drive and have a look how the Scarborough gutters are looking tonight fingers crossed

So how did you get on?

Sun, 2013-10-20 13:06

The water north of Trigg looked sandy, weedy and just generally murky this morning. Though in saying that  I was provided with a nice little aerial show whilst out on the board off Mettams this morning. A couple of big green backs were scattering the bait schools in front of me about 100-130m off shore. Impressive display and both baitfish and tailor going airborne.

I'll be heading out later on to Scarbs/Trigg - wherever is cleanest.

Weed

Sun, 2013-10-20 17:22

I took the dog down for a walk sat Arvo and my decision was made just too much weed throughout the water column.  The gutters don't look that great either
