Albany fishing

 Hi all,

Me and few of my friends will be heading down to Albany for a 4 days holiday and fishing trip end of June. Do any one been fishing down there lately? What kind of fish normal show up during that time? What kind of gear should I pack up? Is the salmon still around there at that time? Where is the best fishing spot? For more info, I don't have a boat. So is only land based.

Any help will be appreciate.

Thanks

hey mate i fish down there

hey mate i fish down there abit and the first thing i do is head down to the information centre and grab one of there big maps the guys there will mark all the best spots on the map for u if u dont know them and they will also show u the local fishing report from the local albany papper, but i can definetly say try salmon holes, might get a lucky salmon there but its a bit late past the season, but they do get stranglers all year round, try the beach there, the rocks are very dangerouse and lives have been lost there, so beach is what i do, try sand patch if you dont mind heaps of stairs to walk down to the beach, cheynes beach is really good of the rocks there, salmon, tuna, sambos and more are caught there, the best times to get salmon would be early morning, but when there on the run u get them every 5 mins its crazy.

for fishing gear i use a 10 foot rod, good enough for the beach and rocks and any reel to suite that, i use 30 pound mono line, and 60 pound leader and a basic beach rig, but use lures most down there, metals, poppers, stickbaits, plugs etc. just try the local tackle shops, i know there is a few in albany and there willing to help.

good luck & hope u catch the big one
