Albany after new year

 Hi All,

Taking my 14 year old son to Albany for a few days camping after New Years. Was hoping for a bit of a heads up on what’s on offer down that way this time of year ? Will be in a 4.5m runabout so not keen on going out wide. Really just looking for a few pointers for inshore fishing. Staying at Emu point.

cheers

And got back last night. People are catching snapper of emu point in the channel just after high tide and that will involve night fishing, skippy flathead and blue mackeral are around and it won't take much burley to get them around. We fished nannarup and couldn't pull out a legal bream but plenty of smaller fish on lures

Good spot to launch at Emu Point either for Oyster harbor or duck out into the sound first thing in the morning.

Last time down there we fished right in the harbour at Emu Point. just before the channel and caught several Kg,s. Only had a fold up boat on that trip.

Theres a place you can launch

Theres a place you can launch out near frenchmans bay where the whaling station is. Work your way around frenchmans bay fishing the sand holes between the weed and will pick up good king george whiting. Great squidding all through there aswell.

If weather is ok head out from there to a reef between bald head and breaksea/Michalmas (can't remember which one) to a reef called the belches, should be marked on your gps. Good for black arse, queenies, harlequin.

Worth a crack around the islands, sound around, if you find fish fair chance of snapper and sambos.
