3 30 in the morning

hahah herd the funniest joke on the radio at around 3 30am at the jetty.
one sperm says to another "how far to the ovaries?"
the other sperm replied "still got a while to go, we only just passed the tonsils..." :D no fish tho cept for a few herring which was really wierd. not even a squid :(

I'm sure one of these days I'm going to wake up and check the boards and see you with a 20+ kg mulla and a big big grin on your face h0ju. Heres hoping, keep trying mate, has to happen eventually.

Hey hoju, word of advise,

Wed, 2006-09-13 18:27

Hey hoju, word of advise, not sayin your rig wont work. But your probably better upping the line class on your reel to a nice 30lb like triline. And setting up a sliding sinker onto a swivel onto about a meter of 50-60lb leader. At the end of the leader use either a single 6/0 or 2 snelled 5/0 suicide hooks.

Reason being is that on your current set up it doesnt allow the mulloway/snapper to run with your bait for very long due to a fixed sinker. They will often grab your bait and drop it as soon as it feels the weight of the sinker tuggin on the boney.

And i dont think 20lb main or 30lb will hold up long if you hook a shark. So so sum up im sayin with all the hours and hard work your puttin in you wanna make sure you have the right tackle to back you up! Dont wanna lose the fish of a lifetime!

Bad luck

Might have to get some heavier line Hoju so you teach them who's boss. Bad luck on the mulla, dont worry, you'll get him next time!

Thu, 2006-09-14 16:53

looking forward to it. that bloke showed us how to make a dead bait heaps more effective you go to fillet it but dont cut the fillets off, just leave them and rip out the back bone and use two snelled hooks. works me thinks

Butterfly fillets h0ju

Thu, 2006-09-14 17:35

A very effective rig to give the dead bait a bit more flutter.

Hope you hook one and land it next trip.

Cheers

Might give that a shot next

Might give that a shot next time our mullet die. But then again, barra don't usually object to a dead mullet anyway.

Thu, 2006-09-14 18:14

What sort of bait you using Hoju. Dont no what they eat in the swan but 90% of the Mullas ive caught were on Mullet or fresh tailor fillets they love them.
