The ones that got away
Submitted by Stiff Ripples on Sat, 2006-09-30 08:27After a Tuesday fishing from Mindartie, Trevor is walking from the pier carrying two crayfish in a bucket.
He is approached by a Department of Fisheries Officer who asks him for his fishing license.
Trevor replies to the environmentalist, "I was not cray fishing and I did not catch these crayfish, they are my pets. Every day I come down to the water and put them into the water and take them for a walk to the end of the pier and back. When I'm ready to go I whistle and they jump back into the bucket and we go home.
The officer, obviously, does not believe him and he reminds Trevor that it is illegal to fish without a license and out of season. The fisherman turns to the warden and says, "If you don't believe me then watch," and he throws the crayfish back into the water.
The warden says, "Now whistle to your crays and show me that they will jump out of the water and into the bucket."
The fisherman turns to the officer and says, "What Crays?"

Friday - Sydney vs Freo at Australia Stadium
Saturday - Adelaide vs Eagles at AAMI.
I'm thinking Sydney by 35, even though I want the Dockers to win.
Other tip is the Eagles over Adelaide by 3 points.

Peter Brock Dies in WA Race Accident
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Fri, 2006-09-08 13:35MOTOR sports legend Peter Brock has reportedly been killed in an accident in Western Australia.
Brock was thought to have been driving in the Targa West rally, and Sky News has reported that he was killed during a special stage.
The channel reported Brock's car collided with a tree, leaving him with fatal injuries.
Brock turned 61 last February.
He was driving with Mick Hone in a Daytona Coupe, but the full circumstances of the accident remain unclear.
The Targa West takes place over four days and is divided into two categories, competition and challenge, the latter catering for relatively standard specification road cars.
The rally began in Perth yesterday.
Race organisers said an announcement would be made soon.
They would confirm only that an accident had taken place. More to come

what's in a name?
Submitted by seansurfy on Mon, 2006-09-04 23:10I'm interested in some feedback on generic names of different fish around the world.
e.g. I lived in India for a couple of years and it was interesting how many species there were common to Aussie waters....even on the east coast.
Mangrove Jacks and fingermark(golden snapper) were called red snapper
Barramundi were called Sea Bass(bit strange really)
Mulloway/Jewies were called bhekti
All the estuary cod species were called grouper
Spanish Macks and Wahoo were seer fish
anyone know of any bizarre ones?

What camera do you use?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2006-08-29 17:10Just wondering what sort of camera you guys use, either video camera or digital and what you think of them.
I have a sony DSC-V1 5.0 megapixel which has had one or two problems with it, but overall has been pretty reliable and taken some great shots. I've seen a few others on the market lately which are pretty awesome and cheap. I just want to get a bit of an idea of what most people are using these days and what they recommend from their own personal experience or opinion.
Cheers,
Adam

Rod Building
Submitted by jay_burgess on Sun, 2006-08-27 18:01If anyone here is into rod building I'd like to ask a few questions.
Firstly, what are the benefits of building your own rod?
How difficult is it, how much time does it take?
Where can you buy the equipment, blanks, binding etc.. to build your own rod?
Is it cheaper than pre-made rods of the same calibre?
Thanks for any help.
