From a old greek freo pro fisherman that the blowies get bad out front at South Fremantle during years when the Swan river water temperature is warmish....he also noted the increase in mussels in the lower reachers happen on years when the river didnt get too cold the previous winter.

Not sure if his opinions amount to anything......was just a interesting comment

Something must eat them....surely

They Do

Salmo - many years ago, I was spear fishing off Point Peron and saw a number of blowie schools - all with their tails bitten off - weirdest thing. They where still swimming - albeit very slowly - but otherwise didn't seem to phased.

Someone told me tuna nip off the tails - don't know about the validity of that - but something obvioulsy did.

Pitty the Japs couldn't get more interested 'scientifically' (cough, cough and cow dung!) intersted in 'researching' blowies instead of whales
