G'day all, am going down to Dawesville with my girly and her family for the weekend and thought i might sneak out and do a bit of fishing. Have never fished down there before and was wondering if anyone had any advice on where to fish and what for?
Was planning on taking my beach fishing gear for Tailor/Mulloway down, is it worth it?

I was told of a spot just to the north of the northern entrance to the cut. Supposed to be good for tailor and mulloway.

Try Tims or Whitehills for
Try Tims or Whitehills for Mullas and Tailor. DC walls for choppers/herring/yellow fin and KG Whiting. Nth end DC "channels" surf break carpark can get all of the above in season - and WRASSE of course ! All incoming tide.
If u ave a boat troll for tailor around the Z bend which is the channel north east of the DC in the Peel-Harvey on incoming tide. Can be productive and apparantly a few out there at present (source local pro)

Was there Wednesday nite..
Northeastern groyne...the one jutting into the estuary. With the incoming tide got half a dozen big herring (27-29cm range) and two skippy around 35cm. Also briefly visited by a school of salmon trout; hooked one and dropped it as I was pulling it up, and had several follows before they buggered off.
All fish were caught on or were chasing soft plastics before the blowies took over and chewed everything up to the point of my having to leave! Hardbodys got no interest at all. This would have been around 5 to 530 in the arvo.
