trawling lures for swan river tailor?
Hi guys,
Heading out on the Swan Friday night with some work mates to get amongst the Chopper Tailor in the river. We are heading near Mossy Bay and Blackwall Reach and will be trawling and flicking lures for Tailor. My question is what do you all recommend as good lures for trawling for Swan River Tailor?
Once we are anchored up somewhere we will be using small metal slicers and wobblers so they should hopefully do the trick whilst stationary. But what do most of you use whilst trolling? will metal slicers and twisty's still do the trick? or would some small bibbed minnow lures be better?
If some of you could mention particular brands or models that would be much appreciated. Something well priced that is pretty effective is what I am after.

yer the bibed minows worked
yer the bibed minows worked great. always good to have variety but if you have anywhere near the luck we did last friday that they will be more than enough. just watch out for the wind surfers while trawling. try to stick to mossy bay round 20m water rather than blackies. we found they were much less frequent over towards that way in comparrison to mossy bay.

Small minnows and poppers
Takes some small minnows and some small poppers if you want to have some fun
If I see some I usually catch and release half a dozen and move on.
Really when its that easy ya only spoiling future much bigger fish.
If their undersize find another patch
I think Tailor size is 35cm ?
The bigger ones up above 50cm dont seem to be up around the surface
for some reason, theyre in another place where people wouldnt expect
them down deeper even caught either side of mid day.

No drama's guys, thanks for all the info. It will be mainly catch and release unless we get some 40+cm ones turn up which is unlikely. I will pack the camera and post some pics if we do any good.

Hey mate, yeah twists are good, we have been getting them also on little floating raplas about 6-8cm long and on plastics once you get one on the troll you can cast for awhile and you will get heaps more, great fun on light gear. Have fun Adamp
