Big Kev the guys at the ramp this morning said it was quiet but the crays were out and hungry on the second dive mate so dont worry too much about the full moon!
If you have your pots in the right spot you will do o.k!
I consider crays as one of the best tasting things in the ocean. Dont do much diving anymore and i am not paying $18 for the frozen crap at the supermarket. Crabs also but since the cockburn ban i havent really had many, but we wont start on that topic!
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more serious than that!!!
um technically they are meant to be born next week , but they were 6 weeks premature . Still trying to work out there age but friday coming they will have been out in the world seven weeks
Got out again this morning with the mastiff and got our bag in 6-8m.
Saw a nice big female dhuie in 8m of water which was my highlight no more than 200m from the island!
Another highlight was a 4m runabout almost hit the reef as we were leaving. He was 25m away from us and I was pointing at the reef on the surface to get his attention and he went straight over it!Dont ask me how he managed to not kill his prop!
I think there is nothing better than diving to give you greater respect for fish hey goatrutar.I was going for crays behind the reef in cervantes had my loop and speargun with me ,always take my gun after a couple close calls with grey coats .We had the biggest dhu we had ever seen(Well over 1.2 m long )came within 3 or 4 meters of the two of us .He stayed with us and we followed him for the entire tank of air .Still get goosebumps just thinking about him .AWESUM Hands down best diving experence.
Just couldn't do it got no crays either just swam in ore of him ,could have done him in so many times .at one stage he swam between us and we would have been 5 to 6 meters apart .Too this day i have not taken a guess at his weight it was just massive ,had no fear of us at all.Would swap my gun and loop for a camera that day .Been back for a week sametime of the year every year since and seen alot of smaller ones .I think it may well be a once in a lifetime thing i hope not .
lol , amazing how many people head out from rocko and go over some of those reefs, just asking for trouble, and good job on the crays matt, gee one for dinner would be awesome mmmmmmm
