Two Rock's Sunday

Hi All,

Went fishing out of Two Rocks I want to thank MenoPaul for kindly giving me a spot. Both the Yanchep Paul’s (MenoPaul and Paul’G) took there boats out with MenoPaul and myself on his boat (there was to be another but he was a no show two alarms didn’t go off aparently) and Paul G, Jesse G and Jody on his boat.

Early start we left the marina well before sunrise, it was a bit lumpier than was expected but still comfortable.

We headed out and hit the first spot with fish all over the sounder and Paul almost instantly pulling in a Dhuie, we drifted back over it a few times but nothing else would bite so we tried another spot. The sounder was picking up schools of fish but not many near the bottom, We decided to try a different patch and headed off during the trip we had a few issues with the sounder and decided to catch up with Paul G and follow him around for the rest of the day, Finding him without a GPS was a bit harder than we though but after a while Paul remembered he still had his handheld GPS on board and luckily I had the right batteries in my camera for it.

Once we met back up we drifted a few spots and came across a school of Snook, Yay my first fish for the day, I quickly live baited it and sent it back down and whack I was on, I quickly realised it was no monster so I slowly brought it up.

Paul G yelled out from his boat “Bloody great fight those Nor West Blowies give eh”

And sure enough up pops a Nor Wester Yell I politely asked him to not call anymore fish for me. I did notice that the Snook was “scaled” and the Nor Wester had taken the Occy so I think that the Blowie had ripped the Snook out of a Dhuies mouth (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.).

Paul picked up a Black arse that had a mouthful of fish that looked like Gobble guts.

Things were looking grim I had only caught a Blowie and a Snook (which was looking very worse for wear).

I then had a hit and run that had me stuffed, bloody powerful and after a tug of war for a couple of minutes it won and reefed me.

It was decided to try a couple of patches on the way back I changed over to a driftbait rig and Paul and I quickly pulled in a couple of Baldies each, While travelling around we saw heaps of whales playing about stopped and took a couple of pics. Paul G said he got a couple of good ones as well.

It was getting late and we headed back, That big Dhu still elludes me Frown. The ramp was packed but we used the side of it and got out pretty quick..

I will let Paul, Jesse and Jody tell you about there day but a quick note It’s a pity Cray fishing season had finished!  hey Jody.

NoWorries: so i take it u didnt hit the 200?

our day wasnt so flash either, seabreeze predicted no wind, it was blowing most of our time out there and it was quite choppy which meant keeping our balance quiet hard

we only managed 2 dhuies (1 wasa undersize), skippy, blackarse and some other fish.

we did manage to hook and bring in approx 1.5-2m tiger shark, got it close enough and tried to gaff it and the gaff straighted...so we thought it was too big and cut the line.

You got a slightly larger photo of that pink saltratrix, would be a worthy photo of the month contender I think.

1024 x

Mon, 2008-07-14 17:54

Resize it to 1024 x 768 and add it to the site, create content -> Image -> details -> submit, then I can see it when choosing what goes into the comp as I don't go through the forum threads, just images, as its too time consuming.

Cheers,

Adam
