Yeah, as Noha said, my fish book tells me that amberjack and sambo are of the same genus Seriola although fish.gov.au give the Black Banded Amberjack the name Seriolina nigrofasciata

Yes, it is an ambo, we get them on the west side a big bigger in the deep stuff, but never seen one in the shallows in the gulf.
