Where's Ryan & Co

Haven't seen him or Honsu around on any of the fish sites of late. Maybe having a big holyday up north I guess.
Cheers

Ting Tong is back :)
hehehe....Just got back from Exxy on Sunday night Dale, just getting settled again!
I've been refitting a CC 5m Haines Hunter boat that is now left perminatly up in Exmouth. The idea is to fly up say 3 to 4 times a year and fish hard for all species. Pete D drove my boat up (thanks again mate) and we fished for 4 days and got some spango's on poppers, i got a Black Marlin on 15kg and Pete got his first marlin (black) also on 15kg line. Racked up a few bottom fish for a feed and I ended up with big queenies, GT's, Brassys, goldspots and shark mackerel on fly.
This was a bit of a rush trip for both of us but now the boats there the next trip will be cruisy/better organised!
I'll put up a few pics later!
As for Honsu, he's been running the shop and did a good job. He's been squiding a lot and getting into L/B pinkys!
Catcha :)

Im on holiday
Im on holiday alrite....everyday!!! lol....just busy at home and fishing. After the salmon season, there hasn't been much else worth targeting for me. Ive also been competing in the local WA Classic bream comps.
Ive also been chasing the odd snapper off the stones here and there. This year I was lucky enough to be able to land 2 from the metro stones. One about a month ago with a just under 5kg fish then follow by a 6kg fish on wed gone. That was one of the double hookup I had. Didnt land the 2nd one as the silly sinker got stuck in the weed.

It seems like a real
It seems like a real challenge for most people now to catch a pinky land based.
Everyone these days is spending many hours chasing them, with a few getting the goods happening.
I did spend about 7 hours on the weekend just gone Down at ASI with the wind blowing right in the face with and waves breaking over the rocks!!!
Was fun..but no fish! :(

got the Right Idea mate.
Ryan, you got the right idea.
we been talking at home about getting my tub finished and up north as well. Maybe get a hard stand in Exxy or Carnarvon, cause it's just not worth it any more down here ( paying $600 a month for a hard stand and no fish to show for it!!!
Well done Pete on the billie, and Ryan, you becoming a billy pig now... :-)
cheers

A few Exxy pics!
Good idea Tony, with the cost of fuel and the long drive it's the only way i'll be fishing Exmouth from now on!
I took a few pic's only, more of a holiday so here's a few quick pics!
The Haines Hunter CC 5m all decked out for billfish/flats/Islands etc
My Black Marlin caught within 50mins of trolling on my favourite lure the Richter Oscar Junior Lumo........15kg line class and estimated 40kg fish
Pete with his first Black Marlin which ironically took exactly 50 mins again and on the same outfit/line & lure.....freaky (next day however). Pete was a happy boy with his first. Pete did the righty by even putting on his mask & snorkel and put his head under the water making sure the fish swam off well as it got tail wrapped during the fight. Size estimate was the same as mine but probably a few extra kilo's.....well done mate!

Finally!
Hey, finally get to see my pic
haha...been absolutely flat out in catch up mode at work too mate, so understand.
Yeah, the Hunter is a fine CC for sure - handled the chop very well.
Many thanks to Ryan for sharing his experience in catching such a fine fish. I was happy enough just leadering his fish, being that it was my first time to handle a Black and get that 'eye contact'. Yeah and the best part is watching it swim off.
I want more now!
Working the flats, poppering for spangleds was a buzz too - they go hard. Didn't find many but watching a school rise from a few meters down to fight over the popper is pretty good.
Cheers Pete
