Sun, 2008-06-15 17:12

Have the Carribean Adventurer myself, brilliant boats - for $30K this represents an excellent investment in boating. You'll do VERY well buying this boat!  Paul strikes me as fastidous, dependable and trustworthy. Peace of mind, peice of boat, and peace on the ocean!

Paul, Whitley were making the Savage range of glass boats but the contract between the 2 companies finished and they went their seperate ways so they're no longer available!

Glass is more comfortable and i do like many of the boats out there today but my favourite mono hull boat is by far the Haines Patriot like (Rob)....Dalmatinac!

Just a good boat.Wink
PeteB has one. I'm sure he will vouch for it.
Personally I would rather get the Couta 685 or the Attitude 7000. But there is plenty of boats in their range. Paul just asked me if I had been on one of the Allrounders when I was at the Abrolhos.
Now the Abrolhos 8000 is one hell of a boat!!! But I can't afford one just yet.Cry

Can't afford him on the payroll

Tue, 2008-06-17 08:46

Can't afford Andy on the payroll and besides if we could he wouldn't be fishing as much, so better he stays were he is.

Apart from that thanks for all the comments and the great pics Andy. We all had a great time at the Abrolhos Islands and that Andy got to have a run and look at the boats in action over 4 days was good from a builders point of view.

This thread has some great comments and supports our decision 9 months ago to go factory direct to as we want to build boats for people and their lifestyle, not just sell them a boat. Unfortunately boat designs/layout always have a level of compromise, but by sitting down with clients and discussing how they use their boats allows us to build the boat around what they want and by doing it like this it saves heaps of money as items don't need to be retro fitted.

A lot of interesting things happening at the factory at the moment, and I'll be posting some topics in the next week.

I was told 20 years ago it couldn't be done

Tue, 2008-06-17 09:11

I was told 20 years ago it couldn't be done when I started a business in financial services. The comany I was an agent for wanted me to sell high commision products, to which I declined because it had not long term benefit for the client and myself so I built a business based around consulting. Funny I think they now call them Financial Planners.

When I came into the Marine Industry, the same thing was happening, so I'm on the crusade again. The first thing that needs to be acknowledged in people buying a boat is that the boat you make or if through a sales yard, selling, may not be the one that suits them, even after you can do all the customizing and options. But if the client walks away with the knowledge and the respect that you have BOTH tried to get what they want its been worthwhile. Its not always down to price, because as we all know, you pay for what you get.

We have a lot of people come to the factory looking at boats, and I can say that all walk away with a much better appreciation of what to look for in a boat, and what to look for in how a boat is built.

As I said earlier, stayed tuned to some new topics soon.

Thanks Colin for you feedback
