Fully Rigged - Hobie Adventure

If anyone is interested in buying a fully kitted out serious fishing
kayak then look no further, I have the ultimate up for grabs.

It's a 2008 model Hobie Adventure with so many additions I cant
remember them all, I think it owes me about 6 grand and it's only a few
months old, I'm offering this yak as a package deal for $4k and anyone
who knows this yak will fall over when they read this.

It has.
Humminbird colour sounder/GPS combo
Turbo fins
Anchor Trolley
Sea anchor
folding kayak anchor
Battery for sounder
Upgraded rudder
Scotty extended rod holders
Custom fishing crate
Kill bin in front hatch
Sand spike/anchor for in the shallows
Graphics
2yrs full warranty
Upgraded paddle
Much more too.

Asking price is $4K and I'll remain pretty firm on that as it's new
value is well over $6K, this is one of the best set up yaks in
Australia.

To view this beast call into Ranger Canning Vale where I have it on display, or give me a call on 9455 5875

Dont think about it too long, it wont last at this price I'm sure.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

Cheers, Al.

Most are yakers and not fisho's

I guess the first question that comes to mind is why are you selling it ? it must be one of the best i have ever seen.

Reason for Selling.

Wed, 2008-06-04 18:59

is because I do need to find some quick cash for a boat yes, but also in the very near future I will be a part of the "about to be released" Hobie Pro Fishing Team and have a yak supplied.

I've been very fortunate since coming to WA and have picked up a few substantial sponsorship deals with Shimano, Humminbird, Sail Power Marine and Ranger Outdoors Canning Vale, so this move to a boat is just part of a long term goal to satisfy those sponsors, as well as increasing my ability to yak fish from a mother boat out deep.

A shark sheild is not included in the package, however I do have one that can be offered as an option for this package, but I'd rather keep it for my next yak.

Cheers, Allan.

I'm gunna do it next season, or maybe I should try hooking the shark?

Would make awesome footage no matter what happened Laughing

I would love to see you hook

Wed, 2008-06-04 20:20

I would love to see you hook one of them bronzies or even a mako out there.

It would be the only time the canoe would do 25knots.

Some of the sharks out there are 10-12ft.

Ask Diji as he had a tiger buzz him last year.

You wouldn't want a tangle as it could end up costly.

Wed, 2008-06-04 20:25

Caught a 7ft Hammer over east and had a ball doing it, one day I'm gunna get me a really big fish from the yak, just a matter of time even if I kill myself doing it.

I live for it!

Hammers are built like gardies.

Might have been 7ft long but they are not exactly fat.

Try a fad bronzie on for size.

sharks

Wed, 2008-06-04 20:44

I'm not worried by them when in my yak, I'm in their domain and expect the ocassional encounter, especially when out jigging sambos (gunna do it)

A 7ft Gar shark out of a yak was one of the best fish of my life, something that not many can say they've done, so bring on the fad fish if you can, my gear is ready to go and the yak deserves one last mission.

Al I was out there fishin

Wed, 2008-06-04 20:52

Al I was out there fishin for dollies and as we caught them we bled them in the kill tank.

As you would be aware they bleed like stuck pigs and with all the water i used from the deck hose mixed with the blood it started filling my kill tank up.

I opened the valve and dumped the blood slop and within 5 mins two hooter bronzies hit the surface and killed the bite.

These were 9-10foot but fat, maybe 200kgs+.Not for me as they were more than capable of giving me a hard time hooked up in my boat let alone a canoe.

Hobie Bloke's picture

200kg

Wed, 2008-06-04 20:58

that would have to be a first from a yak, and a record!

So when do the fads go back out? and who's got some decent filming gear?

I'd love to give it a go, just a little concerned the green element might not appreciate an 8 hour battle on a shark from a yak, but it's something I would love to do.

Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You just have to be ready, when you hook a big one and are being towed, set another lure out the back. LOL!

Sambo off a yak

Thu, 2008-06-05 11:32

I recon you would have bucklie in 'safely' landing and handling a 20-30kg sambo off a yak mate.....you need 20kg drag to get em up quickly.....otherwise you will be sharked before you get it up......

and not being a w@nker but you will cope a serve if you post images of a dead munched sambo.....its all about respect for the fish considering they are a C&R species.

PS Makos bite stuff just for fun :)

Shorty's picture

Shark Shield

Fri, 2008-06-06 18:48

Well i think the shark shield will prevent the sambo's getting sharked, a 20-30 kg fish is nothing to the sharks and billfish that get caught of yaks.

Spokeperson for Hobie denies there will be any Pro Team in Australia.

Shark Sheild or Bait ??

Fri, 2008-06-06 15:34

"The Shark Shield failure in South Africa happened after researchers activated the device on a test raft that was carrying some bait.  A 3.6 meter-long female shark then ate the device."

From http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/36320/113/

And

"Yeah, not only did this thing not keep sharks away, but it actually attracted the attention of a 12-foot great white enough that it mistook it for a tasty snack. Luckily, it was on a buoy and not a surfboard at the time."

Remember not that long ago

Sat, 2008-06-07 15:26

Remember not that long ago the only way to land a big sambo from reefy ground was gently gently with minimum drag.

Now its all machismo, who has the most drag and rip their faces off.

Sensible drag settings will still land you just as many fish in good enough condition for release. The only issue is the sharks. If you can find a school of sambos without a shark problem go for it I reckon.

Only reason you need 20kg drag

Sat, 2008-06-07 20:55

As NOHA said ....it is to lift the fish quickly.......the longer you fight them the more chance you have of being sharked.....

no you dont need 20kg....you need a reel capiable of 20kg.....you lock a saltiga or big stella and you will end up in the drinkWink.....

Setting a drag to say 10kg on a Saltiga6000 will give you a hell better smooth ride than a 4500H at sunset....

so hence why I suggested you need 20kg drag.

And I know for a fact if you were on Shikari and you were rooting around (eg playing the fish) you would end up with a clip behind the ears with a rubber chookLaughing

PS landing a 50kg marlin or sail on a yak would be easier than dead lifting a 30kg sambo in 100m.....

GIVE IT A REST WILL YA!

Sat, 2008-06-07 21:18

Going to give it a go at least once, I dont give a flying fugg what you think.

FFS the fun police just never give up do they? and I bet my left knacker AB would give me his full devotion on trying to get one from a yak.

Actually unless you've caught a 40kg fish from a yak, how the hell would you know & be able to say anything?

Wake up!!

Once you get a bigger fish from a yak then I'll listen to what can and cant be done, until then just keep dreaming!
