Well, we trolled 3 skirts from north barge to West end on Sunday......one possible hit (Goodz....u sure that was not a fiesty bit of weed....). We saw heaps busting up out at the outer barge, but were too focused on jigging (no hits there) and by the time we looked for them, they were gone. So, yep, their around, but not guaranteed.

Will try again this week.

Skirts

We had two small jet head lures out so we could do 12 knots and get to where we were going a little quicker than with bibbed lures out. Plus the back of staggies was very weedy and all the way out to the mid thirties was weedy, so the jetheads were the best choice.

After we landed this one we set the spread again and got a hit on the other lure but no connection.

Once we got to our whiting spot we saw a few free jumping tuna and called lines up and trolled around for a while but nothing came up. There were no birds whatsoever out there (that includes mutton birds). So we were pretty lucky to get this one.

At the end of the day we managed 20 or so big sand whiting, 8 squid and a dozen herring. Not a bad feed for a non demersal day.
