Small King

Caught this small king in 8 metres of water on a Grim Reaper metal jig with Shimano Octa Jig hooks attached. For a small fish it still went hard and tried to bury me in the reef. Lucky I hooked it at the surfice right at the boat. There were some bigger Kings hanging back but just couldn't tempt them. Fish released well.

great fish. good to see it was released to grow into a 20kg unstoppable kingy. where abouts was is caught?

Southern end of Bouvard
Southern end of Bouvard Reefs. 1st time I have fished there but got smashed up on some big fish. Plenty of good Black Arse were caught but only kept 1, rest were released. Was fishing with Garbo and he said F@#k! Fish with a Yellow tail just followed my soft plastic in. coming from NZ many moons ago I could feel myself twitch with the memories of YTK's so I wound my metal jig in as fast as I could and following it was a King of about 8-10kg. Man I was so excited so next cast I wound like crazy and scored that small King. After that they were never to be seen again. Ha Ha! oh well, that spots been marked.
