Caught this on the troll out from Rotto this afternoon, was plenty of Tuna busting up.

Rotto
Got it out from Rotto today. Was planning to head deep but the weather was not the best for that, We saw plenty of tuna busting up so we started to troll for Tuna, but happy with this. Boat is a Leeder Tomcat. Didn't take the camera, so thanks for the photos Tim.

Interesting to pick one up
Interesting to pick one up almost in the middle of winter. How did it cook up? I've only had it once from the mackeral islands, but have to say it was better than spaniard
(But I hear it varies a fair bit)

surprised too
We were surprised too when we saw it. Was trolling a a spreader bar with a stinger trying to tempt the tuna. We a had a double hook up in May last year of fish around the same size. Think they maybe there all year round.....

Definitely looks like a residential fish, not to much migration when they get that big IMO.

Mako pretty well on the the money, 10.5 kgs
Only had a small fish in it's stomach about 5 inches long, looked like a butterfish of all things. The Pinky was a different story, that had eaten a squid that would have to have been at least 600 grams. You would have been happy to catch squid this size.... Never would have thought to use one this big for bait thats for sure...................
