The net is only there for a decent yellow belly or redfin perch, only ever use lip grips on the cod mate.

Took about 25 minutes of being towed before I got the fish, a few pics then released.

Not the biggest from the yak, but it's the best pic.

Many snags in that environment? I imagine it would be pretty difficult to clamp down and try and pull the fish out into the middle with a kayak.

Big cod always hang close to snags, a lot of rocky ledges and boulders in Googong, got smashed to shit there a few days later by a much bigger fish.

That's a monster cod Al, that PB must've nearly pulled you under.....

I couldn't imagine even getting onboard a fish that big, let alone unhooking and takin pics...

I would end up in the drink fo sure.

my standard cod outfit was a

my standard cod outfit was a 3 to 6kg baitcaster rod n reel loaded with 10kg braid and 15kg leader, sometimes upto 25kg leader depending on where .

This fish was nailed on lighter leader of around 15kg as I was expecting the big ones to be quiet due to low water temps in may of around 12 to 13 degrees C
