Milkfish.....bloody hell they go hard!!!

I have never before encountered a fish that fights as hard as these things. They just never give up. 90 minutes on 10lb braid. They're just insane. Gotta keep the spot a secret unfortunately....

Powerful fish, saw on an episode of Adventure Bound in which Andrew Clark caught one that went 15kg near a barramundi farm up north. It was insane fishing to say the least.

That was in Darwin, Doctors Gully, went there as a kid and was amazed, milkfish and daimond scaled mullet everywhere, i do recall watching fishing australia and them getting them near Cairns tho ;)

Ive only caught the Giant Herring on Barra gear so they didnt go hard. No where near as hard as big milkies on fly thats for sure.

Milkfish is a staple diet in
Milkfish is a staple diet in the Phillippines. Haven't tasted one myself but recall people were using them as live bait in Singapore since they are hardier than most other species of baitfish.
Usually bony fish have very fine texture flesh. A good example is the wolf herring.
I have eaten giant wolf herring and rate it pretty highly. It is a pain in the arse to remove the bones but the texture of the flesh is very nice. Mind you, the bones ain't straight and they are mostly Y shape bones.
I guess it will not find its way to the western world as a food fish given that western world would prefer skinless, boneless fillets.
