Got this little beauty on a recent trip to Karratha, but no-one on the boat recognised it. Any ideas as to what it is? Cheers.

Not really closely related to bream as in black bream. Though seems lots of things get called bream. Consider our 'salmon' is not related to atlantic salmon for example.
Though, I think the correct answer to the species is: Mackie bait. Hehe

Its a purple threadfin bream or also known as Double whiptail bream
