Diving tips?

Fri, 2019-02-08 10:02

Hey mate nice work diving! Scuba or free-diving?

Do you have any tips for free-diving for crabs?

I've been out a few times now in anywhere from 3-7 meters with no luck. I have spotted some of the biggest blueys I've ever seen, but they are all dead, guessing occys or stingrays. Any pointers on locating the buggers would be awesome.

Cheers,
Deano.

Free diving six to twelve feet, if you go high tide, which ever is higher dawn or dusk is best for they are active. Otherwise you'll have to study the sand patches for them buried. Be careful with your crabs when catching them with gloves as some are soft, just sheded shell. Thats why you see the dead ones, when you've uncovered them from the sand they find it hard to protect themselfs from the butterfish, trumpeters and blowies etc etc. They make there way across the top of the water till its safe enough to go to the seabed.
