this is merv the wonder cod.appaerntly he or she is a queensland groper.i looked and looked at him ,her and thought the queenslanders had yellow on the tips of there fins.maybee they loose this with age. they say he is 150 kg plus,and seeing him i dont dout it .appaerntly every time he breaths he draws 60 odd litres of water through his gills

If you look extremely closely you can kinda make out the yellow tips on his fins although you are correct Mitch, they do lose the colour with age. This is illustrated in most fish ID books as they show a pic of the juvenile and mature fish.
We have had many decussions over the campfire if jingles would acually attack a swimmer. Looks pretty agro when he comes up to take a mack at the gaff!

This pic was taken 20 feet up on the cliff and we dangles teh carcass of a 15 kg trevalli on the surface to get him up for this pic....

Have dived with 'Jingles'
Have dived with 'Jingles' and his mate. They are both over 6ft long.
Awesome 'puppy dog' fish.
