Walky meant Augusta in the south west of Western Australia. I think he meant how good the fishing is down there. :) Everyone got a couple of good fish between them that day. The orange fish are breaksea cod, one of the best eating fish in the ocean in my opinion.

Few beers too many before I posted my comment. I did mean Saint Alouarn Island which is in Flinders Bay, Augusta but nowhere near Exmouth.

We have a holiday house down there and agree the fishing is great. The crabs in the river are late this year which is a bummer. You used to be able to snorkle for abalone just about anywhere a couple of years ago and get a great feed but its harder work now with more tourists not to mention the clowns who exceed their bag limits.

I spoke to a guy who was schucking his catch on the beach who had about 50 abs, many undersize. He got all aggro saying he only got abalone two or three times and he wasn't taking as many abs as people who get their legal bag limit many times per season.

Sad to see people with that state of mind. I know what you mean about the crabs, it seems that a lot of the northern towns are doing really well for crabs rather than the southern ones. Apparently two rocks and mindarie have them inside the marina's and all over the place....! Bit of a shame they haven't headed south, must have something to do with the currents or water movements.

Did hear a report that there are two huge salmon schools moving up the coast that should hit Augusta pretty soon.
