Anzac Day Woo

Anzac Day Woo

Awake at 0400 to prepare for the dawn service, which went well. I laid a wreath on behalf of those that have paid the supreme sacrifice and my five year old son laid a wreath on behalf of the children of Australia and New Zealand; very proud moment. Then the gunfire breakfast with rum in the coffee and bacon and egg rolls on the bbq. First beer at 0715..... Took the family for a quick snorkel trip at 1230 (I drank slow during the morning). We saw heaps of nemos, a little stingray and a turtle so the wife and kids were happy. Back at 1500 to drop off the family and go out for a fish. I caught a dolphin fish and a yellowfin on Saturday so I thought I might be able to repeat that, maybe even a marlin. Three hours for didly squat, not even a decent school let alone a hook-up. We ended up trolling the reef for a sunset sailfish, then heading into the main pass in the reef, and I was about 30 seconds from winding in lures when boom off goes the biggest lure way out the back. Sailfish??????????? It didn't jump so I didn't think it was a sailfish and it didn't head straight down so I didn't think it was a dogtooth. I was hoping it wasn't a wahoo or a barracuda as I had about $400 worth of lures out the back and they have a nasty habit of messy up quality skirts. As luck would have it it was a solid 10kg wahoo that took the front hook but didn't steal a single bit of skirt on contact. You beauty. Now that's a great Anzac Day!
