Fair call guys, I'm a novice

Sun, 2015-01-11 18:26

Fair call guys, I'm a novice trying to get better. I should of taken more photos, at times it showed on both sides with a gap between bottom. We did nearly 60 miles today with some really good showings for squat. Is this the time to try jigs ??

Trying Jigs!

Sun, 2015-01-11 18:33

No ..... you need to find fish on the sounder first to be far more successful on bait or jig!

Having plenty of spots and moving around to find "Fish "........  is the key!

Sounder!

Sun, 2015-01-11 18:29

Exactly what Brock O said ..... you should be seeing fish above the bottom on the right hand side and fish on the bottom lock but "above the bottom lock" .... not conected!

Thats hard ground with holes/coral/limestome etc so the bottom lock will show growth of the right hand screen and put it on the bottom lock!

Quality fish will be on the bottom lock side but lifted ie 1-6m etc (not joined)

Hope that helps!

 Just bought Johns book -

Mon, 2015-01-12 12:55

Just bought Johns book - ordered on line

Also chatted to him on the phone - top bloke.

initial thoughts were that it's expensive for such a little book - couple of pages in I changed my mind - best read I've had for a long time.....very easy to understand and tells you "exactly" how to interpret what you are seeing on the screen.....

fifty dollars for a book in retrospect is VERY cheap especially when if you don't know how to use your $$$$ sounder you have already wasted a shit load more money on something you don't know how to use and just looks pretty sitting on your dash.

buy it!!!

I'd like to see if anyone

Mon, 2015-01-12 17:43

I'd like to see if anyone agrees but i'd interpret that as flat, hard bottom with some growth on top. Flat as in no cracks or caves due to the lack of tails showing on the RHS. Thoughts?

Interpretation!

Mon, 2015-02-02 23:57

Definately not flat ..... the bottom lock shows tails but in a virtical way and as the tails are conected to the bottom that means ground/growth!!!

The porus gaps on the right hand side screen (shows up on bottom lock also) gives away the hard limstone/coral grounds/growth!

Plenty of cracks and hidy holes ..... I used to analyz my sounder readings and then dive that Tworock spot in 40-45m at the same time ...... I will say, you get a " very " good grasp ....... Quickly
