Have read that before , what bulls--t , sometimes they are the opposite and sometimes suisidal.

adam87 is on to it, I always try unweighted first , even on sea breeze afternoons, but I

mainly use scalies caught locally or small gardies, so you can still cast them with some practise.

A small bean or ball sinker helps as well, above the nose.

For my baits I use 2 or 3  5/0 and a tail 4/0, with a 40-50ib leader about 1 1/2 m long.

For spots half the fun is discovering them, with small areas holding surprising numbers sometimes.

Look for reef , whitewater and green /blue channels and tailor wont be far away. Some like high tides

and new moons and some say low tides ( to access the reefs) and just before and after full moons.

Caught good tailor on both , so there you go.

Use ghost cotton on your mulies as it helps the bait to stay together, and just keep trying.

good luck.

you can by it at tackle shops, just a very thin wispy cotton , that you just spiral around your bait ,

which then holds it together for longer, important with mulies, as when theres pickers around, you

spend more time rebaiting than fishing!   thats why I prefer small scalies.

Look for rips too on the beach. Had a great midday session with choppers being caught on any lure and they had their mouths full of the bait fish that were caught in the rip.
