I probably wouldn't take the risk. As Ben has said Maybe later on or early Sunday morning would be more preferable.

Good to know. Yeah I bled
Good to know. Yeah I bled mine, knocked the tail off while it was green, donked it on the head with an empty stubby, bloody things go nuts! How good is the no bone situation, couple on the sides near the pectoral fins and the spine itself. Mine was only 800mm and yielded plenty. Got an ammonia smell from the esky when I grabbed my next beer but smelt fine after being on ice all night when filleting it today. Fillets in the freezer, heard a few weeks in there does em good????

Yeh bag limit of 2 for the
Yeh bag limit of 2 for the gummys.. I was in the sound last night too timmo.. ended up at pinnacle rock cause someone was anchored directly on top of d9.. couldnt be fucked with the close anchoring. Then the flotilla of boats appearred, shoulda just stayed there, 1st night fish in the sound and didnt realise we were there b4 peak hour!!!
Got a few undersized pinks and a few eagle rays.. and snooked to death by about 7.. anyone else deal with these pains in the ass.. what to do when it happens.. reckon they took half our box of squid in half an hour!!!
Still yet to crack the snapper code!! Still beat working but!!!

Pic doesnt do it justice, was
Pic doesnt do it justice, was a mill pond at 9. I was on top of the 'charted wreck site' with no company catchin livies, yakkas, gardies, hezzas, a 12 cm sambo, so cute and a couple of rays, the first of which took my live squid, bastard! Then worked out that the two main groups north and south of me were the place to be, obviously the propper wreck site and the lump to the north which is where I ended up amongst the group. The numbers and time everyone left gives me the info for next time, no big tide movement and possibly full moon the culprit to no snapps? From 7 til 930 i sounded up decent schools under my boat with no takers on bait or placcies. Was my first time out there, and wont be the last, under 10kn wind and its an awesome place to be. Snapper has been my next target species for a few weeks now with no success yet but have been gettn other firsts on me tub so cant complain. Always learnin something new with every trip.

You must be fishin a
You must be fishin a different spot than the ones mentioned????? I did find a slight rise area that was unweedy, hard bottom, dont have to always fish 'lumps' for them??????? Is tide a factor with pinkies or mainly time? I dont expect help on all of these queries lol

Nah dont fish the mass
Nah dont fish the mass schooling areas, tried once last year with the rest of the fleet, no fish and was a horrible experience. One I caught this morning was in about 7m with patchy rocky bottom. On plastic too, in pitch blackness. I fish the change of light

Yeah, cant be the only places they turn up. I think I wana get a night vision capable drop down camera that rotates 360 and live feed to a screen, kills me seein good schools on sounder, I wana know whats down there!

Yeah I dont think they swim
Yeah I dont think they swim around in huge schools as much as people think they do, maybe in a couple months time during the ban but at the moment theyre pretty scattered, and I think at the change of light they spread out even more over an area to feed. This is just what I think anyway

Thanks for the advise dude, I prefer to fish around hillarys coz I live in ballas but the sound is a comfortable, different type of hunting ground that I also want to learn to fish. You ever cut their stonach open to see wot theyre eatin?

Well, on advise, the snapa im
Well, on advise, the snapa im targeting off scabs are supposed to come in at night, feed on whiting behind the surf then head back to deeper water when the sun rises, the idea is to be ready to tempt them on their way back out. Apparently they are quiet pale because of this and the ground theyve been on. Gets me thinkin, target areas where whiting are found.....

Snook attack!
HAHA Troy, I went out last thursday night from freo chasing pinks. we got SNOOKED TO DEATH too haha. The snook were on fire, dad got 3 double hookups in a row!
Only solution I found is putting them in the smoker when you get home :D they cook up alright.
Just another Stella fanboy.

Fish a system guys...
My son and I chase Pinkies pretty hard. You gotta fish a system. We use a traditional paternost set up with chunks of Mulie, or Lunds squid or strips of fish. We also fish floaters - half or full mulies or a Lunds preferably free of weight so that it naturally drifts downward. I also set up a berley trail using 3 berley buckets spread across the transom. The berley is made up of chook laying pellets mixed with some fish oil and water to soak the pellets soft. When we cut up the mulies we throw the tail and crushed head into the trail. This may include chunks of fish that we have filleted up for bait as well. At this time of the year Pinkies are where you find them but it will be an advantage if there is some structure that will hold the fish relatively near to where you re fishing. By catch for us is skippy, the dreaded snook, King George Whiting, squid and the occasional Dhuie. Anchor up once you've found your ground and be patient - regularly we get good fish after anchoring and berleying/ fishing for 2-3 hours +. Having patience and belief in what you are doing are key components to success- in saying that keep changing things up - checking baits changing them etc to strike the key of success for that given day. On top of that keep a diary detailing methodology etc. Keeping dates is a general indicator with shallow water pinkies it comes down to reading the conditions best. Using this method we have caught Pinks to 15kilo.
