I've been struggling to reach VJ6LQ inside the marina and had shocking reception outside the marina mouth a couple of trips back but it's still been fine otherwise albeit a bit scratchy.

Went to radio in last trip 13 miles out to extend my return time and nothing but radio silence and I managed to get them after driving halfway back in. Not a nice feeling.

Decided I'd replace my antenna and I started removing it and the cable completely pulled loose and was completely corroded. It must have been hanging by a couple of wires.

Valuable lesson: if something isn't 100% then investigate it.

Possibly Hezzy. The clamp on

Possibly Hezzy. The clamp on the base never really pinched it real tight and it would come crashing down when I drove through choppy weather and then jump around and bash into the gunwales and I thought it was physically damaged from that... well that and driving through Thirsty Camel with it still up a couple of times.
