** NINGALOO Coast Land Grab **

Further to a few comments in recent posts, I thought I would put this up.

The following article should cause concern to everyone, not just those who have been to these areas:

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/26556255/pastoralists-angry-over-ningaloo-land-grab/

Anyone that visits the area or ever dreams of going there  could you please voice your concern by emailing the people listed below. Would also be great to CC the station managers if you do stay at any of them. It is important to put our concerns across, also on behalf of these station lease holders who do an incredible amount of work to give us a great place to camp. This is an awesome piece of paradise that I hope my kids kids will be able to enjoy!

Cheers, Scott

land grab

Wed, 2015-03-11 12:32

Thanks Scott, I have already emailed Terry Redman.
So here we go again... and again... and....
Bloody politicians.
Even if you don't currently stay at these locations maybe one day you or your children will want to stay there.
Once they have made their land grab it will be all over.. so take the time to send them an email.
I will draft another generic letter for the other politicians and send to each of them.
They have a responsibility to reply to each email.
The more people who email them perhaps the clearer the message we can send to them. The fishing/ diving/ boating/ camping and travelling public have to keep fighting these damn politicians. These continual land grabs need to stop, as does the "lock it up, lock them out" mentality of many government departments. Were any government "officials" ever charged or held accountable over the Lefroy Brook pipeline fiasco?? probably not aye.........

I just received a reply from

I just received a reply from the Premiers office noting my concerns and that I have already CCed Mr Redman but not Albert Jacobs, obviously read the entire thing

I have also added into mine, my concerns about these new protest laws.

Even though we all get the shits with the tree hugging anti shark line hippies etc, it is simply not possible to draft laws to stop that without encroaching on your right to free speech.

Unfortunately its just the same with the bikie laws-they cannot be drafted to only cover the "baddies".

As Tom Percy pointed out on TV tonite, a farmer who locks his gates to a fracking company is subject to the same penalties.

"Oh but you have nothing to worry about" they say-bollocks I say, these laws will always be used to suit the government not the citizen

Ningaloo Land Grab

Thu, 2015-03-12 15:18

Some links worth reading and a couple of slices of info from the report.

http://www.planning.wa.gov.au/publications/5841.asp
This is an existing petition, below,
https://www.change.org/p/hon-ken-baston-mlc-save-the-wilderness-product-of-the-warroora-station-world-heritage-ningaloo-reef-coastline-from-unwanted-developments
If you have an interest in this take the time to read the report. It is dotted with phrases similar to what we see below, significant pressure, environmentally sensitive, lack of co ordinated management, or paragraphs such as P21; "Secondary impacts, such as indiscriminate access to a new location or expansion of an existing site, may result from the existing lack of management of tracks. The creation of a new camping site in an inappropriate location has the potential to create even more environmental degradation through the ad hoc creation of additional tracks."
Section 1.2.1 page 36
"It is recognised that the coastal sections of pastoral leases are under significant recreational pressure. They also are environmentally sensitive because of their relationship to the marine environment. The lack of coordinated management of these areas has lead to considerable environmental degradation. The creation of conservation and recreation reserves from the proposed pastoral lease exclusions (a strip between one and two kilometres wide along the Ningaloo coast) will help vercome these issues. Once reserved, these areas will be managed in accordance with guidelines for existing conservation and recreation areas."
Unquote.. and I think that would be lock it up and lockem out.....
