Golden Ponds

I was thinking of going down to Golden Ponds maybe this weekend with the family if the wind doesn't get any worse.

I've done a quick search and the latest posts are from about a year ago. As the family wil be in tow, I was wondering if anyone could update me on things there, is it still $10 in and $10/kg for the fish? Which ponds for which fish and any techniques bait styles would be handy.

It would be good for the little'un not to have a dissapointing trip this time as his last 4 or 5 fishing trips out of have been disappointing and he's been getting disillusioned with fishing.

Any help would be appreciated cheers

its $10pp, i called two days ago, $15 a kg live weight for what ever you keep. No rules, so any lb line/leaders, no need to crush barbs, use bait if you want. they seem pretty gung ho for a fish farm lol, bream perch and trout in there but they said its been quite unless you use pelletes.

Hoookt - are you hanging these under bubble floats or just leaving them on the bottom?

Also, does anyone know how deep the ponds are?

I have used both but bubble float for bit of casting weight. Not very deep at the spot I choose only cast about 2 metres out into grassy snag area

I used to fish the ponds a fair bit and caught some cracking trout and barra, in the pond behind the shop.

They are crafty little buggers, as I'm sure they've been caught enough times to wisen up.

You will need:

size 8 and 10 gamagatsu octopus hooks.  they are perfect for fitting the pellets

lightest line possible - able to flick a frozen pea size pellet 2m

your leader must be clear and virtually invisible as the fish spook easy

bag of the large size pellets sold in the shop (pea size)

How to catch:

no weight, no float, just sandwich the pellet between the hook's barb and spine

throw out around 10 pellets into where you are going to cast out to

flick your pellet into the feeding frenzy and hang on
