went for a cast, started at peppy grove near the yacht club but wasnt really feelin the vibe so headed to north freo. wasnt having any luck for about half an hour, to make it worse i nearly stepped on flathead twice as i was wading around, watched them dissapear in a puff of sand. this was in knee deep water, and i was casting out to the drop off, always suprises me how shallow you'll find them.
finally landed a nice one about 35cm which gave me renewed vigour to keep going, much to my missus' dismay haha. landed another 2 only around 25cm casting around pier 21, and had follows from a small flatty and a flounder. spent about 3 hours all up and only caught fish in the last half of that so persistence paid off.
anyone else have a cast today?

Hahaha something like that
Hahaha something like that Versus.
I've got the basic idea, I just need to get out there and do it, which has been difficult lately.
But I've got the time, the opportunity and the motivation tomorrow morning, so I am hoping to find someone to give me real advice.
I think it's really just a question of getting out and doing it. Just need to start somewhere.

id be happy to meet up for a cast but unfortunately some of the bargaining with the missus today means i cant go fishing tomoro haha. I think theres a few people on here who fish for flatties and wouldnt mind givin you some pointers, maybe try posting on the 'find a buddy' forum.
or as u said just get out there and have a crack, dont be too worried if u dont catch any straight away tho. persistence is key

Cheers mate.
I'm the reverse. Kept the missus onside today and get free time tomorrow when she's at work.
And yeah I'll get out there. Maybe catch up for a fish in a bit.
Thanks.

I went down to the the traffic bridge for a couple of hours this morning. Only landed one flatty around 25cm. Got heaps of follows by flatties and a good sized flounder. Lots of hits. Got smashed four times in a row by the same fish at my feet but didnt manage to get a solid hook up. Overall it was a nice morning flicking lures about the river.
