electric reel decisions

ok ive narrowed my choice down to
Miya Epoch COMMAND X-4PRO
or
Daiwa Seaborg 1000 Mega Twin
but will consider others ?
what one would you buy and why? what one would last longer ?
the seaborg has more speed
but the miya has more drag

both good reels
personally the megatwin is dual speed, and looks the goods, i have used a tanacom bull and epoch, the epoch was deff user friendly also,

The Command 4 is a little
The Command 4 is a little small really, I'd probably go a 6 or so to match the capacity of the Daiwa 1000 sized reels.
Check the top two images in this article on Tackle Tester:
http://www.tackletester.com/2011/07/daiwa-saltiga-dendoh-deep-drop-rods/
Keep in mind that the Daiwas do seem to have some sort of jig function that the cheaper Miya Epochs don't have. Can't say I have tried the jig functionyet in any case.

Have used the mega twin a few
Have used the mega twin a few times and are a good reel, the jig function isn't great but an extra option. Landed some big fish and sharks on it and had no problems. Haven't used the others so couldn't comment.

The AC-5S is pretty nice,
The AC-5S is pretty nice, hard to get for under $1200 though.
It has all the fruit for jigging etc as well as being a bit faster than the tanacom bull 1000. megatwin is faster at top speed though.

personnally
i would stick with the diawa bull 1000, the two speed reel isnt anything special for the extra dollars, the miya's are great but more a reel you stick the rod in the holder and let it do the job

I don't really understand
I don't really understand that comment.
I've fished with the Miya Epoch CX-4, Tanacom Bull 1000 and the Megatwin and never really felt any one of them was more for fishing by hand than the gunnel.

the miya have a larger drag capacity, in my experience any fish over 20kg will pull you over the side if your drag is tightened up, as with the tanacom bull the drag will allow the fish to pull line and not you when at full drag

What reel are you going to go
What reel are you going to go with Harro?
I was blown away by the specs of these things checking out the catalogues the other day & picking the brains of a local deep drop guru. Slippery slope of tackle addiction, I fear once I give it a go I would be hooked

Likewise,
i'm already hooked and I havn't even caught a Cod/Harpuka/Bass or Ruby yet.
I love the idea of hauling these monsters out of the deep. Who cares how deep it is or how big the sinker is, at those sizes you only need 1 to make your day

I honestly thought insinuating that I was gonna leave Matt off the shelf was gonna get a rise before saying I hadnt seen any pics :P
Maybe by the time Clints boat is fixed we will be able to get out and get onto some of those monsters, Im getting sick and tired of catching baby fish in the bay while clints boat is layed off....Spose it is better then watching everyone else catch fish on clints boat though....HAHAH
Squid I can do...Im sure my little tub is big enough to get to some decent squid grounds :P

Hurry back from perth then, maybe your boat will provide me better luck then clints hahaha...
I only go on clints boat with him to help spread the fuel and provide some more fishing for the other boys while I try desperately to fill my quota ;)
If you want bait recently I have been great at catching babys :P

I would say the Epoch would suit you better if this is how you plan to fish.

I started crying out for the
I started crying out for the electric after the 6th drop fishing just past the 220 with a Stella 8000. Not racing out to do it again but with an electric then that would all change, slippery slope into 300's 400's & beyond!
Out of curiosity supervisor what boat do you fish out of & where?

As Jamie said The Command
As Jamie said The Command Epoch 4 is small you need to go to a 6 or Epoch 8 but then you start talking $$$$
I was in the same mind of things 6 mths ago I went for the Daiwa Seaborg 1000 Mega Twin
Great reel for the money apox 1k for the Daiwa Seaborg 1000 Mega Twin
I think the The Command Epoch Epoch 8 was around the 2k mark

Just remember the "5" sized miya epochs are quite a big reel if you intend to use the jigger functions.
Try Ebay dealer fuuta37 for good prices.

i havent used the reel in
i havent used the reel in anger but took it out last weekend in the 40s just with a sinker to get used to the controls must have looked funny me standing on the boat reading instrustions and dropping a huge sinker then retreving
but must say its a big heavy outfit not really suited to holding onto
it went well was surprised how fast it can go just need to get some fish on it now
must say thanks to till for the rod and filling it up with line will be bass and puka hunting in the very near future
