Daily bag limit of 8 per person, max 3 licenses a boat and with fish you can only carry two days worth of fish even if you've camped out on your boat for a week.
I know that with fish if you do an overnighter that you can have two days woth on board and can only assume that it would be the same for crays. I have a season pass at the boat ramp so the only way that I could prove that I did an overnighter would be through sea rescue when I log on and log off.
I will stand corrected but I think the possesion limit applies only if you stay overnight on an island. I dont think it counts for an overnighter. But this is how I understood it.
Which leads to a point: There is a lot of Gray areas in the regulations. And when you look at the charges laid against "breakers of the law" it is usually pretty obvious. The onus would be on fisheries to prove that you "broke" the regs. So with evidence on your side as Matt says above they cant fine you because you have proof that no law was broken.
As for Rigs question I am not sure whether there is a 2 day limit for crays with the overnight stay on an island rule. And also I have never seen that written anywhere so great question.
We need a fisheries guy on here to clarify issues like this (much like Glenn Moore from the Museum), but then "ooops" perhaps we dont
short of ringing fisheries up I havent read anything thing in the rock lobster guide that talks about overnighting and it only mentions boat limits. As Black Gen mentioned if its only ever 1 days catch limit allowed in the boat then it should be stated.
wouldnt want to find out the hard way, they fine pretty hard for cray infringements
Another point after reading that guide I am not sure how many people are using SLEDS sea lion devices in the areas mentioned
and I wonder how many people can pick up if a lobster has a very fine setose, dont forget your glasses
The rules seem pretty straight forward - Max 8 per person per day and then Max of 24 in your possession - I don't see any grey areas in that.
Boat limit - 24 - even if you have 10 guys with a licence - it's still 24.
The rules say that includes at your permanent place of residence - so they can even come into your house, find a freezer full and charge you.
Overnight, camping, it's irrelevant - unless you can prove that you caught 8 in one 24 hour period and then 8 the next - more than 24 and your fooked if you get caught

No Trip Limit
dont get caught thinking there is a trip limit for crays !
as far as I'm aware you get a daily limit and thats it. The possession limit was introduced to stop people have a freezer full at home.
